From Willy to Bremerton for Fun

IMG_6792

So I must admit that I was a little bummed to know that we would be leaving again so soon for a four-day trip when I had just gotten home from being gone two weeks straight. But then I continued to read the email and found out where we were headed for the four days. And my sad feelings magically disappeared.

Because we were going to Disneyland!

So after Gladys spent a few days with mechanics who love her, we picked her up at Mesa-Gateway and were on our way to Bremerton. Because of a weird turn of events, I ended up driving Hubby’s Corolla to the airport this morning. I hate to leave him without air conditioning in Taurus for a few days, but that’s how it worked out.

Bummer, dude. I’m down with a new car whenever you’re ready, by the way. (Too bad he doesn’t read my blog.)

In the distance is the Hawker Beechcraft hangar where we used to do maintenance at my old job. I can’t say that I miss it much. I never got to go to Disneyland with them!

Phew. Sorry about all the mentioning of Disneyland. I am so excited for this trip, and it’s pretty hard to contain it.

The best part is that I’m flying my Mom down to join me for a few days at the park! I couldn’t think of anyone else who would be so fun to explore things with me. She is practically an expert at that place, and I knew that we would have a great time together.

As I’m leaving Mesa for Washington state, my Mom is also leaving her small town to arrive at Salt Lake International Airport for her commercial flight to John Wayne Airport in Orange County.

Which is 12.2 miles from Disneyland, in case you need to know.

Away we were from Mesa! Since we were empty in back, Gladys climbed like a rock star. I was excited to leave the heat behind, but already missed Hubby. I certainly haven’t seen enough of him this month!

This looks like the weather that we should find closer to Seattle, but we ran into this on our climb out of Mesa today. It makes me want some hot chocolate just thinking about it.

Soon we were out of the clouds and could enjoy some beautiful views on our long flight back to the northwest. These clouds could potentially cause some thunderstorm trouble later today.

But I’ll be in California for a trip to Disneyland by the time they do, so what do I care?

Hey, Grand Canyon! I'm going to Disneyland!

IMG_6801

It was really quiet from the cabin today. It’s amazing how much food stays on board when we don’t have any passengers.

IMG_6802

I decided to take a picture of Nevada, since I doubt that happens very often. Perhaps you can see why? Hi, Nevada!

IMG_6807

Good grief, are we this close to Seattle already!? Yippeeeee! I have had butterflies in my stomach all day for what will be happening over the next few days in Disneyland.

Hi, Mount Saint Helens. For once, the eerie cloud isn’t hovering over your crater, so we can actually see you! Pretty, huh?

IMG_6808

Hey again, Mount Hood. I just saw you a few days ago. Several times, actually.

Here we are passing over the southern end of Tacoma, just south of Seattle. This is a common way for Air Traffic Control to route us because it keeps us out of everyone’s way. I don’t mind. When they take us the northern route, it adds about twenty minutes to the flight!

Tacoma is beautiful. I could live here. But I won’t start that again, I promise.

Good morning, Puget Sound! I’m going to Disneyland with my Mama today!

IMG_6811

And finally, we were on Final Approach for Runway 1 at Bremerton. We would only be here long enough to grab some fuel and five passengers for our trip to southern California. My stomach is doing jumps right now just thinking about it.

IMG_6812

We made it down! Now, where is that fuel truck? I’m kind of in a hurry today!

IMG_6813

This will give the brakes time to cool down. And me, since opening the door to 72 degrees feels amazing.

I swear, sometimes I forget what it feels like to be able to enjoy being outside in the summertime!

IMG_6814

Single-point fueling is ready to go! Let’s get some gas and be on our way! Luckily, I’m not the only one who is excited about this weekend trip. Gladys wants to go to the most magical place on earth, too!

Tomorrow, we’ll fly down to John Wayne Airport in Orange County. And then, the magic begins…

  1. If Mom can't make it next time, I would totally be willing to go with you! I know a little about Disneyland too!
