My Dad lived in Bolivia for a few years back in the 1970s. Before he left, he commisioned a local artisan to weave for him an authentic Alpaca rug. Four months later, the rug was ready to return to the States with my Dad. I am still baffled as to how he got it back home to Ideeho!
Dad moved out of the country in 2005, and the rug was passed along to a close family friend. Just few years ago, I was given the rug to help make our new house a home. I was also given the disclaimer that I could sell it if it wasn't what I had in mind for being "homey." Perhaps I felt too guilty to part with such a beautiful piece...until now.
I am always in a state of cleaning out, and this rug simply has nowhere to be stored any more. I posted it on Craigslist for hopefully a local buyer to notice. If you are interested, let me know!
It measures 94 inches (7.8 feet) by 106 inches (8.8 feet) and is all-natural coloring (not dyed). The various colors are from the coinciding Alpaca. It is low-maintenance and doesn't shed, unlike the lint-free cloth that we recently used to stain our new desk top. This rug has always lived in a smoke-free home. It is also portable, being able to fold up and easily fit into a back seat of any vehicle.
The image is a Mayan/Incan Sun God. Yes, I know those are two completely separate societies back in the day. But I can't remember which group of people claimed this particular Sun God...so I better cover all my bases.
You can even name this rug.
Tell your friends and spread the word. I can't imagine pushing an Alpaca area rug will be a very easy task! No doubt it will up the cool factor of any future owner to have a Wild Alpaca Rug in their living room.
What?? The Beloved Alpaca Rug?? I did not see that coming!
