Celebrating the Fourth with Pyros

We had a great Fourth of July with my family. After receiving an invitation for swimming and a BBQ dinner, we knew that it was the right place to be to celebrate the birthday of our country’s declaration of freedom.

As you can see from above, it’s absolutely adorable when a toddler says, “Cheeeeeeeeese” for the camera. Is he a pro or what?

It is so nice to be married to a man who also doesn’t like hanging out in a wet swimming suit all day. And, since it was a pretty cold day for us (only 94 degrees), I was perfectly content to sit by the pool to watch the kids having fun.

This was my reward…being bombed with a cannonball by my brother. He must have forgotten thayt I was holding his three month-old baby in my arms whilst he swam?

Here is my sister, T’liese, and her cute monkey, Evan. It was nice to eat such a yummy dinner at her home to celebrate the Fourth. Thanks for having us, Thithter!

After warming up post-swim, it was time to head outside for some fireworks in action. My brother-in-law wasn’t able to join us for the patriotic celebrations (for good reason…good luck, Joe!), but he did fund the fireworks display.

As always, he went all out. As you can see.

I enjoyed watching kids’ reactions much more than the intense fireworks show. This little guy was all for helping out. What is it with little boys being natural pyros?

As you can see, the fireworks only got better as the evening progressed. Evan is holding his twenty-foot sparkler, which was next on the list for the night’s events.

How cute is this little guy? He was my main source of entertainment all day, in fact.

As you can tell, the excitement over the sparkler was almost overwhelming. He didn’t know what to do with it until Uncle Jeff showed him how to frolic around the driveway and wave it in the air.

This resulted in a near-miss with a fireball and my sister’s head. Don’t worry, though. We caught it on video, and it is awesome!

Here is my very own Pyro at work. Hubby helped light things and kept the evening fun. He even managed to get out of the way after the dud firework decided to start working when we were cleaning up the aftermath of such a large display!

No Hubbys were harmed in the making of this post. He almost lost some eyebrows, though. It was all very impressive. And spontaneous.

We finished off the evening with a homemade peach cobbler with a big ol’ scoop of vanilla on top. I don’t know what more one could possibly need in life, really.

It was a great day of food, fireworks, and family. We know how to celebrate, that’s for dang sure.
